Effective September 12, 2023, our organization fully transitioned from Triangle J Council of Governments to Central Pines Regional Council.

Triangle J Council of Governments (TJCOG) is now Central Pines Regional Council (CPRC) and we have a new look!
We are so excited to integrate the North Carolina state tree, the pine tree, into our name. We chose the pine tree not only because the pine tree is a nod to our state but it also represents our past while also representing our future. Previously used in tar production (why we're the Tar Heel State), pine is now primarily used in construction. The pine tree also thrives in our diverse soil types here in North Carolina which is the most poetic symbolism for our mission here at CPRC. Just like the pine tree, we continuously find ways to be relevant and meet the evolving needs of our communities. 

This change won't affect you other than the name you call us. We are still serving our members and the region in the same way we always have.

Our new name and brand identity embody our focus on innovative, accessible, and responsive resources, while capturing our unique mission and nearly six decades of work on behalf of local governments in the region.

Key Steps to Our New Brand

• In March 2023, the Executive Committee and Board of Delegates unanimously approved the new name and an amended charter to reflect it.
• On June 12, 2023, we reached the momentous milestone of 32 of our 47 local government members approving the name change and have since well-exceeded the required two/thirds threshold to make our name official.
• On July 1, 2023, Triangle J Council of Governments legally changed to Central Pines Regional Council.
• On September 12, 2023, Triangle J Council of Governments fully and publicly transitioned to Central Pines Regional Council. This launch included our new centralpinesnc.GOV domain.
